LPO        Emilie Leneveu has taken the Candidate Pledge:

"When our elections become divisive, people get frustrated and give up on voting. As a younger candidate, I know we need more youth in politics, but the polarization of campaigns is deterring many. I believe ranked ballots can address this problem."

NDP       Alison Kelly has taken the Candidate Pledge:

"I support ranked ballots in municipal elections as studies have shown it improves the political discourse of elections and eliminates strategic voting. People get to vote with their heart and know their vote will count."

"If elected I will push to overturn Ford’s undemocratic decision to not allow municipalities to use ranked ballots. Kingston voted in favour of ranked in 2018. We need ranked ballots for municipal elections and a citizen assembly for the provincial and federal elections."

"For the provincial or federal political party system I believe proportional representation provides the best opportunity for all viewpoints to be heard. The municipal system is different and ranked ballots provide an opportunity for residents to identify support for more than one candidate reducing the chance of split voting eliminating the most favoured candidate."

NDP       Christopher Wilson has taken the Candidate Pledge:

"I believe ranked choice voting is superior to fptp voting. I believe that all municipalities should have the rights to decide how they wish to hold elections."

LPO        Oliver Jacob has taken the Candidate Pledge:

"As a sitting Councillor with the Township of McNab/Braeside, I believe that the next provincial government must restore the option for municipalities to utilize the ranked ballot model for Municipal and School Board elections. Municipal governments are the closest to the people and their elections are conducted in a non-partisan manner. As a result, local electors should have the ability to share their secondary preferences particularly in races where multiple candidates are elected (I.e. multiple Councillor roles that are elected at large). Ranked ballots would allow for greater democratic freedom for our electors and more representative Councils. Finally, by restoring the option, municipalities would not be required to implement ranked ballots and they may elect to remain with the current first-past-the-post model if they like."

"I fully support ranked ballots in municipal elections. If we can empower people to choose who they want in leadership roles in their local community, we will have more equitable and fair representation for all residents. With ranked ballots, everyone's vote counts."
