During the February 2025 Ontario provincial election, we are reaching out to all of the major political parties to secure their commitiment to restoring municipalities' choice to use ranked ballots, if they were to form government. Once we receive responses from the parties, or we find a committment regarding ranked ballots in their party platforms, we will share this information here.

Green Party of Ontario

In their 2025 election platform, the Green Party of Ontario has committed to "Allow municipalities the option to use a ranked ballot voting system for elections."

Liberal Party of Ontario

The PC Party was responsible for passing Bill 218 which revoked municipalities ability to use ranked ballots for their own elections.
